At Shaker Heights Youth Lacrosse, We Believe In:

"Lacrosse is Medicine for the Soul!" is a quote from RJ Smith, a member of the Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe who teaches the Native American history of lacrosse.

SHYL is hosting a FREE GIRLS' LACROSSE CLINIC this Sunday, November 16th from 11:30-12:30 open for girls K-6 on the Shaker Heights High School Turf Field. This is a great opportunity to work on specific skills and build confidence!

We will also be providing clinics on November 23rd and November 30th for both girls and boys on the Shaker Heights High School Turf. Girls will have the turf from 10:30-11:30 and boys 11:30-12:30. These clinics are open for K-8 so mark your calendars!

1) Girls Lacrosse Free Clinic for Girls in Grades 3-8.  Saturday Nov 8th 1-3 pm on Shaker High School Turf.  Register here!

2) Shaker Youth Lacrosse will be holding additional clinics Sundays in November (10:30AM-12:30PM) on Shaker High School Turf for Boys and Girls players in grades K-8.  Stay tuned for additional info on time slots. Dates expected 11/9, 11/16, 11/23, 11/30.

3) YODLL registration will be out before Thanksgiving for sessions starting in early January.  Coed, non-contact, in Shaker Gyms.  Times and dates will vary.  Three divisions: 5/6, 3/4, and 1/2 (K welcomed).

We hope everyone is having a great Fall!  We can't wait for next Spring!  In the meantime, we wanted to provide a few brief updates to our lacrosse family.

Fall Tournament: There is a lacrosse sixes tournament being held in Canton at HoF fields in November (11/1 for Girls, 11/8 for Boys).  If your player(s) are interested, please click on the following link to learn more and fill out the interest questionnaire.

UPDATE:  there was not adequate interest, so SHYL will not be hosting teams for the Graveyard tournament.

Save-the-Date: Shaker Varsity Mens Lacrosse teams and coaches are hosting a clinic for 5th through 8th grade boys on Sunday October 26th from 10:30am - 1:00pm on the high school turf.  The fee is $35 per player with proceeds going directly to the lacrosse program.  Email Coach Hubbard if interested:  dhubbard8022@yahoo.com.

Updates on the Program:

Soft-Toss: Due to the summer construction on the high school turf, and back-ups that caused with fall scheduling, we regret to inform you that our Soft-Toss program for new and younger players will not be held this year.  We sought other venues, but were unable to bring this to life.  We are committed to bringing this program back in 2026.

YODLL: Our offering of Youth Olympic Development Lacrosse League (YODLL) will be held January through March this winter.  Co-ed, non-contact small-sided games played in a gym environment with divisions by age group was a great way for those new to the sport learn by doing,  for those coming back to the sport to shake the dust off, and for all to build confidence heading into the Spring season.  Details forthcoming as venues and dates are finalized.  Look for the registration in November/December.

Spring Season:  Registration will be conducted much earlier this year to allow better planning for coaches, venues, uniforms, etc.  We'd love to have everyone from last year come back and play again, and for all players to share with all your friends how much fun you have in lacrosse.  Ideally,  our vision is to grow our number of teams this year to better cater to both those who are fully dedicated to the sport, as well as those that may be interested in a lower level of commitment.
